You get to help solve a murder， or two， while the grandmother and her daughter work through their relationship issues from past hurts and misunderstandings。 I enjoyed the characters and would read about the next installment of their lives。

Honestly I really disliked the beginning of the book and almost DNF it but I was gardening and so I kept listening。 It got much better and by the end of the book I was really enjoying it。 So I decided to give it 3 stars though honestly it was a 2 at the beginning and a 4 by the end :）

Eh。 It was ok， not page turner。 You have a love hate relationship for both Lana and Beth。 The retirement home piece is really confusing in how it eventually ties in towards the end。 The kayak shack is a fun way to learn more about the characters。 All and all it was a 2。75。

I wanted this to be a 4-star read but it fell a little short for me。 The premise was a good one。 And there was much family dynamics discussion。 Going on。 The mystery kept me guessing at whodunnit。 Overall enjoyable， but not quite as gripping as I had hoped。
